Marcia Annette Demarcus, 41, is being held at the Fayette County (Ga.) jail following a hit-and-run incident in which she struck and killed a 16-year-old girl as the teen handed out literature from her church, Fayetteville police said Monday.

Demarcus was charged with a long list of offenses, including first-degree vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, drug possession and DUI. She was being held late Tuesday on $289,000 bond.

Caelyn Olds, the step-daughter of Middle Fayette church of Christ preacher Nicholas Adams, was distributing flyers inviting people to the congregation’s gospel meeting when the driver struck her and another woman, Linda Long. Olds died from her injuries at a local hospital. Long was treated on the scene.
